Ánnámáret: Bálvvosbáiki @ Ethno Port Poznan

Conzert: Ánnámáret - Bálvvosbáiki

Ethno Port Festival, Poznan - Poland

Saturday 7th of June 2025

Ánnámáret - or Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman - is an Arctic Indigenous artist, who belongs to the arctic indigenous people Sámi. Her work grows out of her research into the her family tradition of yoiking - an indigenous vocal form

that passes down from generation to generation. From archival recordings, the sounds of the tundra and the pulsating life of the modern world create deeply moving, multi-layered soundscapes.

During the concert, Ánnámáret will invite the audience into the world of BÁLVVOSBÁIKI - her latest musical concept created together with her working group: Turkka Inkilä, electronics, Ilkka Heinonen, Carelian/Estonia bower lyre jouhikko and Marja Viitahuhta, video art. Their music is a question about the sacred: where are the sacred places today? In the tundra, in sound, in memory, or perhaps

in the voice that carries the yoik?

Ánnámáret is the voice of the North - gentle yet firm, rooted in the harsh nature and culture of the reindeer herders. Their concert is a mystical journey through the spaces of dream, memory and the present.
